Ryan
Phillippe was paid $500,000 for his role in Cruel
Intentions and $1,000,000 to star in Antitrust.
He is a good friend of Sarah
Michelle Gellar.
He turned down the role of Anakin Skywalker in
Star
Wars, because of the age difference bewteen Natalie
Portman and himself.

sister got a part in I
KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, but got kicked out.

His first role was Bobby on the soap opera One
Life to Live. Bobby was the first gay teen character on daytime television.
"I got letters from teens telling me it changed their life," he says
proudly.
You know you're successful when... He's joined
forces with two other actors, Seth Green (Buffy) and Breckin Meyer (Road Trip),
and they've formed their own production company.
He was considered for a role in THE
PATRIOT (2000), but lost out to Heath

has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and warns "I will take physical action."
He used to compete in tournaments when he lived on the East Coast. Another passion
is snowboarding: "I almost gave up acting to pursue snowboarding, but I'm
too old now. I'd hurt myself."
Ryan and Reese Witherspoon met at her 21st birthday
party, although he almost didn't go. She calls him "the gushiest, most
romantic boy." Lucky for Reese, Ryan knows lots about child-rearing as
his mom ran a daycare center from their house.
His last name is often mis-spelled Philippe as
opposed to Phillippe (double L).
Personal quotes:
"I
would show up for work and look at the pairs of tight, shiny shorts or jeans
that made up our "54"
wardrobe and wonder if we were making Showgirls.."

[Ryan Phillippe on working and being with Reese
on the
film
CRUEL
INTENTIONS (1999)]: It was great. I'm the luckiest guy in the world.
Not only personally but professionally. She was an asset to the movie and we
begged her to do it. She didn't have as colorful a role as Sarah's and mine,
but she did an amazing job. Really elevated the piece.
"I have insecurities about the way I look.
I look in the mirror only when I have to and even then I don't see anything
special. I always find it amusing when I'm boiled down to my appearance because
my looks are such an insecurity with me."
- Ryan Philippe
"I'm fine with being sensitive and crying"
- Ryan Phillippe
"Celebrity is very seductive, and it manifests
itself in the way people decide to infiltrate your life."
