At the age of 15, Colin, the son of Irish soccer star Eamon Farrell, chose to pursue a career in acting rather than follow in his father's footsteps.

Dropped out of the Gaiety Drama School in Dublin and a few months later auditioned for a part in Ballykissangel and was successful.

Colin and the others of AMERICAN OUTLAWS (2001) had to spend six weeks at a ranch, hanging out with a bunch of Cowboys, learning how to ride horses before they starting shooting the movie. Colin rode a horse named Milagro while learning how to ride, then used the same horse for all of shooting AMERICAN OUTLAWS.
