Having launched her career with a role in the critically acclaimed film The Ice Storm (1997), she quickly leveraged this success to win a part in the teen drama Dawson's Creek (1998). She continues to be busy, with roles in Go (1998) and Disturbing Behavior (1998 with James Marsden).

Katie got her acting start by performing in plays at her all-girl Catholic high school.

Some things are more important than stardom. When her callback audition for Dawson's Creek conflicted with her senior class play, Katie opted to ditch the audition rather than let her classmates down. (The producers later rescheduled for her.)

So does she have trouble playing a character who's three years younger than she is? Katie says no: "It's nice to be older because you can look at the big picture, you can remember how you felt ... I relate to it so much -- I was just there."

Entertainment Asylum asked her Dawson's co-star James Van Der Beek the all-important question: Is Katie a good kisser? "Yes, she is. It's a stage kiss, pretty much." Pretty much? Hmmm.
