Daughter of a Cuban-American father and German-American mother, Cameron happened to be at the right place at the right time when at a Hollywood party she met a photographer who helped land her a modeling contract with Elite Modeling Agency. Soon after, Diaz convinced her parents into allowing her to expand her career into Japan at the tender age of 16. In the next five years she traveled from Australia, Morocco, Paris, and Mexico before settling in Hollywood.
At a suggestion from her agent, Cameron went from modeling into acting.
